As ‘tasteless’ as it seems to some, I really, really didn’t have a problem with the “Trayvon” reference in Childish Gambino/Donald Glover’s “Eat Your Vegetables”. To be honest, he’s a person who has current references in his music. He did it with Casey Anthony and the tsunami in Japan. I don’t think this should be taken seriously. Rap music is sometimes offensive. There’s no need to go and write open letters for articles dropping ‘F’ bombs and such at his direction, because it’s just this: rap music. Rap music has a history of being offensive to all. Shit, Eminem has basically made a career of being totally offensive.

What I’m trying to say is: don’t take it seriously. Just a song. Nothing to cry over. We’ve all heard worse in rap music. And this is coming from a dude who wants justice for Trayvon. Just let it go. Of all the messed up things involved with the death of Travyon, I find it unnecessary to nitpick a lyric made by a rapper. Focus on the justice aspect.

My thoughts exactly.

What really kills me is that some people who claim to be fans are bashing him over it, have they not been actually listening to his lyrics? …Besides the Casey Anthony and Japan Tsunami references he’s also made references to 9/11 and the Virginia Tech shooting. Where were the offended people then? Fake fans get on my nerves along with the haters using this as an opportunity to bash CG and endorse Pitchfork’s ridiculously biased review of CAMP.

Another thing that annoys me is when people say that CG is copying off of Cash Money/YMCMB when he uses Hashtag [also referred to as pause-stop] rap, as if that’s something that Cash Money came up with. Hashtag/Pause-Stop rap existed before it was even called that…in fact it goes back to 1997 and beyond, Biggie on All About the Benjamins: “Undercover, Donnie Brasco”.

Movie-Misfit gets it! Good response!

The only reason people can find to dislike him is either: he interrupted Taylor Swift or he’s arrogant/cocky/any superlative of those two. It’s sad really.

EXACTLY. Pains my heart, I tell you.

She has let it go and so should the rest of the world. Besides, his “arrogance” is what makes him so amazing. Have a seat, pop in Late Registration and sit down.

Truth!
