This whole “Hunger Games” issue a bit too seriously. So what if Rue is black? So what if some of the characters that were white are black? It’s not that big of an issue. Now I’m seeing everyone’s inner-racist come out. People are like: “Oh, I’m not seeing the movie because Rue is black.” or “Why are they giving all the black people the main parts?”
You know what’s more annoying about this whole thing? Before these people launch into some racial tirade, they say: “I’m not racist but…” When people say that exact phrase to start off a phrase, what they are about to say is going to obviously be racist. They’re trying to cover their tracks. That phrase is an attempt to ‘reduce’ the damage done by the racist statement. We see through your fucking lies people, stop using it.
Back onto the subject at hand. It shouldn’t matter if a person in the film is black when they’re supposed to be white. Wasn’t it universally agreed that Katniss was of native american or bi-racial descent? Because it doesn’t seem that way in the film. Not many people are complaining about it yet they are on the creator’s asses for making Rue black.
Here’s a suggestion to people complaining: just shut the fuck up. It’s an adaptation of a book put onto the big screen. Just shut up. It’s not a matter of life or death. No need to bring out racist comments to express your goddamn discontent for some black people taking white roles. No need to go around saying “I’M NOT SEEING THE FILM NOW HURR HURR HURR!” because that sounds bloody retarded. Just shut the fuck up. Jesus H. Motherfucking Christ.
EDIT: Shit, even the author said she was black. Even the fucking author said Rue was black. In the book it apparently says the same thing…which makes this situation worse and more disturbing. That’s enough evidence for you all to sit down with your racist selves and shut the hell up.
